For the last two years, Christchurch has gathered at the Harcourts' Cancer Society Ball to produce
some pretty amazing record-breaking moments.
In 2016, $170 000 was raised for the Cancer Society Canterbury-West Coast Division ($50 000 more than 2015, which was a record-breaking fundraising total in itself). We owe it all to our generous sponsors and suppliers, a room full of passionate bidders & golden ticket buyers, and all of those who joined us from outside of the Ballroom through the online silent auction.
So... How about we push for a 2017 fundraising hat-trick? It's time to make your mark on the lives of those living with cancer.
Key details to ensure you make it
to the ballroom...
Saturday 24 June
6.30pm - 12.30am

INTRODUCING YOUR HOST
FOR THE EVENING
Wonder why this bearded guy looks so familiar? Ben Hurley writes for and regular stars on the show 7 Days, has featured on Comedy Gala and hosted the New Zealand Music Awards, and now Ben will be running the show for Canterbury's most-loved Ball. We're excited.
Trips around the world, tickets to every show at Horncastle Arena for a year, brand new wardrobes and so much more. The live auction has never been this extravagant. Don't expect the ordinary.
We're going digital - again! Get ready to bid from your couch, Canterbury. We're putting together an extensive list of exciting silent auctions as we speak. If you've got something up your sleeve that you want to donate to the cause, we'd love to hear from you.

Feeling lucky? Across the evening, we will be handing out $20 Golden Tickets for those who wish to get their hands on all that glitters from Youngs Jewellers.
This year's gem is a stunning 18-carat Rose Gold Morganite and Diamond ring
worth over $3500...
BELLE & BEAU
OF THE BALL
We say it every year. It's never too early to start planning which stylish, elegant and unique outfit you'll be gliding around the Ballroom in this June. We've got big rewards for this year's Belle & Beau, so it pays to stand out... Just saying.
This year we're putting Sergios Menswear Merivale and The Colombo in charge of hunting down the 2017 Belle & Beau of the Ball (because they definitely know a thing or two when it comes to looking the part).
YOU'RE GOING TO NEED SOME SERIOUS DANCING SHOES
For the first time ever, we're pleased to welcome Hipstamatics to the ballroom stage. You can expect all the classic bangers to come out on the night, played in the truly unique style of this 10-piece funk/soul band, with guitars, drums, saxophones, trombones, trumpet, flawless soul vocals, trumpet, keys and bass.
Good luck with remaining seated...
If you and your guests have decided to indulge in this year's Premium Table upgrade, you're automatically in the draw to win the BMW Platinum Table to be chauffeured to and from the Ball behind the wheel of a luxury BMW. Ooo la la.
AN EPIC DINING
Once again, Vbase will be putting on a show-stopping night full of culinary delights and professional table service. Their head chef Dan Shanks will be calling in a couple of his local food mates, Jonny Schwass and Richard Till, to contribute to the three-course meal.
Massive shout out to our other amazing partners, Bidfood, who will be providing all the meat for our 1200 Ball guests.
HIRE A SERGIOS SUIT
TO HELP FIGHT CANCER
Hire a dinner suit, shirt and bowtie from Sergios for $189 and $50 from each Ball hire will go towards raising money for the Cancer Society.
So hop into the changing room, and get suited up to fight the cause!
We're moving with our favourite host partners Vbase from Wigram Airforce Museum to their other happenin' venue - Horncastle Arena. It's time to make room for more guests and more spectacles.
Following the live auction, the doors to our super classy cocktail lounge will open for all Ball guests.
Mingle inside the laid-back lounge and be treated to a delicious selection of Absolut Elyx cocktails.
This year more than 22,000 New Zealanders will learn they have cancer. This is why the Cancer Society must raise more funds each year so it can support as many of these people as possible through their cancer journey. A listening ear; an information booklet or reputable website; a turban or a beanie to help with hair loss during treatment; practical assistance in navigating our complex and, sometimes, confusing health system; motel-style accommodation for patients receiving treatment at Christchurch Hospital; or transport by a volunteer driver to reduce the stress of daily travel and provide companionship en-route to medical appointments are among the regular services freely offered by the Cancer Society.
We could not provide these much appreciated services and programmes in the community without your special support of our annual Cancer Society Ball. Your continued endorsement of our work provides hope for those 60 New Zealanders each day who receive a cancer diagnosis. Living with cancer can be very hard, but finding help and support shouldn’t be, and your attendance at our Ball will ensure we can be there to support those people who hear the words you have cancer.
Trips around the world, luxury lodges, cooking classes with nationally renowned chefs, a year's
worth of VIP hair styling... It's no secret the Harcourts' Cancer Society Ball is known for its
luxurious line-up of 'money-can't-buy' experiences that get temperatures (and bids) rising in the Ballroom.
You'll be in good hands with the experts from Harcourts, who will be stepping in once again
to take hold of the auction reigns.
As well as a live auction, we'll be bringing back the digital silent auction so anyone in Canterbury
can bid big from their office chair, couch or bed.
Live auction & silent auction items to be announced soon.
